What Is UPNEEQ?

Am I a Candidate?
You may be a good candidate if you have mild, moderate, or severe upper eyelid sagging and you are not taking any medications that will interfere with UPNEEQ. We’ll review your medication and medical history during your consultation. It may not be a good option for you if you are on beta-blockers, certain blood pressure medications, certain antidepressants, and other prescription medications.
How UPNEEQ Compares to Eyelid Surgery
UPNEEQ is approved to treat “acquired blepharoptosis,” or upper eyelids that have begun to sag as you age. If you have always had heavy upper eyelids, the treatment may not be as effective. With an average 1mm rise in the position of the upper eyelids, the treatment can provide a noticeably more open and awake eye appearance. For people who want a more significant lift, those who have a significant amount of loose skin on top of the eyelid, and those who also want to treat their lower eyelids, eyelid lift surgery (blepharoplasty) may be a better option. How long does the lifting effect from one UPNEEQ application last?
Most people notice their eyelids begin to lift within about an hour of applying UPNEEQ, with the strongest lift typically around the two-hour mark. The effect generally lasts 6 to 8 hours before it starts to fade, which is why it’s designed to be applied once each morning.
Can I apply makeup after using UPNEEQ?
We recommend waiting 10 to 15 minutes after applying UPNEEQ before putting on eye makeup, to give the drops time to fully absorb and take effect.

What side effects can UPNEEQ cause?
UPNEEQ is generally well tolerated. Some people may experience mild eye irritation, dryness, redness, blurred vision, headache or increased light sensitivity. These effects are usually temporary. Can I wear my contact lenses while using UPNEEQ?
Yes. Just remove your contacts before applying the drops and wait about 15 minutes before putting them back in, so the solution has time to absorb properly.

UPNEEQ works by temporarily activating the eyelid muscle rather than creating a permanent change, so your eyelids will gradually return to their prior position once you stop applying it. There’s no rebound effect, so you can simply pick the drops back up whenever you’d like the lift again.
